Memoars provides a user‑owned, encrypted memory layer that lets multiple AI assistants share approved context while keeping control over what is learned, changed, and forgotten. Your agent writes memory locally in plaintext, then encrypts it with Argon2id‑derived keys and XChaCha20‑Poly1305 before storing it in a bucket you choose (R2, S3, MinIO, Supabase or a local filesystem). A blind coordinator orders versions by hash, syncs devices, and mediates concurrent writes without ever seeing the encryption key, ensuring that memory content remains ciphertext. The system uses an append‑only, hash‑chained log for versioning and tamper‑evidence, and a local BGE‑small‑en‑v1.5 vector index enables encrypted search. Permissions are enforced cryptographically through workspaces with separate passphrases, and cross‑device sync attributes each change to its writer. An optional “dreamer” can propose cleanup or updates, which a human must approve before applying. Running Memoirs on a single machine with your own bucket is free; sharing across agents or devices requires the coordinator to resolve conflicts and manage access. Memoirs is currently in an invite‑only beta and requires you to provide your own storage bucket.
